Of these, 46% have plans to start five to ten projects in that period, while 25% are aiming for more than ten.

The study interviewed about 150 IT leaders from organizations working on mobile application development. Almost all of them employ at least 1,000 employees and 77% more than 5,000. The objective was to provide an overview of the mobile application development scenario from the companies' point of view.

Resource Availability

Companies are divided on whether they have the resources to meet the requirements of their mobile application development needs. 54% of respondents said they wanted to hire more developers in order to make their projects viable, while 47% said they have current resources to meet the demand for mobile application development. 37% prefer to outsource the service due to budget complications and project collaboration, among other reasons.

Development and Compliance Standards

As far as development standards are concerned, more than half provide strict guidelines for compliance, reaching 55%. 14% guide, but have no control over compliance, and 10% say their production line follows their own standards. The other 20% say that the standards have limited influence on its development line.

Safety

Security is at the top of companies' concerns about delivering applications to mobile devices. 63% considers this a challenge, as more and more organizations build applications that use sensors connected to the Internet of Things, wearable and nearable devices.

According to Matthew Gharegozlou, Vice President of Progress for Latin America and the Caribbean, it is clear that companies still see the development of mobile applications as something extremely complex and expensive.

"Progress has been acting in this direction since the purchase of the company Telerik, when it brought to the market solutions that integrate perfectly with the existing structure, without the need to change the source code. By providing a solution for the development of multiplatform mobile applications for creating web applications, native and hybrid quickly and easily, the Telerik Platform empowers companies, independent developers and technical business users. Our goal is to make building mobile applications something productive and profitable for all parties involved ", points out Gharegozlou.

To read the full report on mobile application development and access all the search results, click here.

A recent study, conducted by IDG Connect at the request of Telerik, a Progress company, revealed that 80% of companies plan to develop five or more mobile application projects in the next twelve months.
