The initiative has the partnership of several business associations and seeks to exploit the full potential of innovations guided by the increasing use of data<\/em><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n\t\t&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n\t\tIn order to present the advantages that data use and sharing provide for Brazilian society, ABES (Brazilian Association of Software Companies), through its Regulatory Committee, developed the website Brasil, Pa\u00eds Digital http: \/\/ brasilpaisdigital.com.br\/.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n\t\t&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n\t\tShortly after the case Edward Snowden, a former employee of the US National Security Agency (NSA), began a wide-ranging debate about the importance of developing security and data protection mechanisms. In Brazil, the Marco Civil da Internet was created, which outlined the parameters for using the network in the country and became an international reference. Today, Brazil is advancing in the discussion to regulate points relevant to the privacy of citizens and to increase innovation, such as the use of personal data and net neutrality.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n\t\t&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n\t\t\u201cToday, the use of data is so comprehensive and important to society that innovations in this field are already beyond the space of technology companies. Cities, people, cars, refrigerators and markets connect. Legislation on the topic is welcome, but it is important that it does not affect innovation and the evolution of new business models such as cognitive, cloud computing and the internet of things. Without the engagement of civil society in this type of debate, it is possible that limitations to the benefits provided by the data may arise, which may affect the capacity of our population and governments to have fundamental information for the provision of services of general interest, such as electronic commerce, weather forecasting, diagnostics, health monitoring, tax evasion, traffic and conscious use of natural resources, among many others, \u201dsays F\u00e1bio Rua, coordinator of the ABES Regulatory Committee.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n\t\t&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n\t\t&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n\t\tThe website Brasil, Pa\u00eds Digital proposes to contribute to this debate with short texts, cases, interactivity, in addition to diverse and updated information on the importance of using data for the population and for the most varied sectors of the economy.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n\t\t\u201cThe importance of the internet is indisputable in society, but today we are going through the phase of information collaboration, which brings us a wealth of knowledge for different sectors of the economy, which allows the evolution of research and the creation of innovative solutions. Strict rules can leave Brazil against the digital evolution \u201d, says Francisco Camargo, president of ABES.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n\t\tThe proposal of ABES and partners that support the initiative is that the website be a meeting point for civil society to engage in the discussion and have access to qualified information on the topic, in a light, modern and dynamic format.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n\t\tThe initiative already has several partners, such as ABIIS (Brazilian Alliance of the Innovative Industry in Health), Assespro (Association of Information Technology Companies), Brasscom (Brazilian Association of Information and Communication Technology Companies), BSA - The Software Aliance, FENAINFO (National Federation of Computer Companies), Brazilian Institute of Digital Law and ITI - Information Technology Industry Council, who will contribute with their experience on the subject, ability to mobilize and participate in debates. &nbsp;<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n\t\tAbout ABES<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n\t\tABES, the Brazilian Association of Software Companies, is the most representative entity in the sector with around 1,600 associated or associated companies, distributed in 23 Brazilian states, plus the Federal District, responsible for generating more than 120 thousand direct jobs and a turnover annual turnover of US$ 20 billion per year.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n\t\t&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n\t\tThe companies associated with ABES represent 85% of the turnover of the software development and commercialization segment in Brazil and 33% of the total turnover of the IT sector, equivalent in 2014 to US$ 60 billion of sales of software, IT services and hardware.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n\t\t&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n\t\tSince its foundation, on September 9, 1986, the entity has exercised the mission of sectorial representation in the legislative and tax areas, in proposing and guiding policies aimed at strengthening the value chain of the Brazilian Software and Services Industry - IBSS, in defense intellectual property and combating piracy of national or international software and supporting initiatives to promote research, development, innovation and the development of national software.
