\n\tABES, together with more than 70 sector organizations and movements, among them Assespro, Brasscom, Fenainfo, Coaliza\u00e7\u00e3o dos Direitos da Rede, Movimento Brasil Competitivo and ITS-Rio \u2013 Institute of Technology and Society of Rio de Janeiro, delivered today (Tuesday, 26\/06) a manifesto to the Federal Senate asking for the urgent approval of the Bill of the Chamber of Deputies n\u00ba 53\/2018, which deals with the Personal Data Law.

\n\t\u201cPLC n\u00ba 53\/2018, now under analysis by the Senate, is considered by the signatories of this manifesto, a text that is in line with the best international practices, balancing the guarantee of individual rights with the induction of new intensive business models in Dice. It should also be noted that the text encompasses the creation of the National Data Protection Authority, functionally and financially independent, and the National Council for the Protection of Personal Data and Privacy, essential bodies for the operationalization of the future diploma, corroborating the initiative of the Federal Government. \tThe manifesto was delivered to the parliamentarians during a public hearing at the Senate's Committee on Economic Affairs (CAE). At the meeting, the rapporteur of the House's personal data protection proposals, senator Ricardo Ferra\u00e7o (PSDB-ES), stated that he will put his text to a vote in the commission on July 3rd. Thus, according to the senator, the issue should be taken to the Plenary and voted on before the parliamentary recess in July.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tIn defense of the approval, by the Senate, of the House Bill No. 53 of 2018<\/div>\n

\n\t\tThe representative entities, academic institutions, organizations and people who subscribe to this document, express their support for the swift appreciation and approval, by the Federal Senate, of the Bill of Law of the Chamber of Deputies n\u00ba 53\/2018, which provides for the protection of personal data in the Brazil.<\/div>\n
\n\t\t <\/div>\n
\n\t\tSeveral countries already have rules for the protection of personal data, addressing the challenges of social and economic transformation arising from the advancement of digital technology, in recognition of the enormous potential for development and well-being derived from the generation, collection and processing of a significant amount of data. . A clear and principled data protection law, which balances the central position of the individual with the economic dynamism of a creative and innovation-inclined country such as Brazil, is essential to catalyze competitiveness.<\/div>\n
\n\t\t <\/div>\n
\n\t\tThe debates carried out in the two houses of the National Congress, involving public authorities and representatives of academia, civil society and the business sectors, intensified in the last two years, managed to achieve successful convergence and contributed to the composition of the text recently approved in the Chamber of Deputies. Thus, we understand that PLC No. 53\/2018 meets the imperative need for legal certainty for citizens and economic agents. The Senate has a unique opportunity to give Brazil a leading role in terms of data legislation, a fundamental step for the country's insertion in international forums, as well as providing a safe business environment that enhances the attraction and materialization of investments in the order of R$ 250 billion (Brasscom and Frost & Sullivam) in digital transformation technologies by 2021.<\/div>\n

\n\t\tIn view of the above, we urge the Federal Senate to consider approving PLC No. 53\/2018 as quickly as possible in the best interest of Brazil!<\/div>\n
