\n\t\tABES participated, from November 20 to 22, in the event The 11th Knowledge Cities World Summit, based in Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain. Organized by the World Capital Institute, in collaboration with the government of the Canary Islands, Universidad de La Laguna and Multiversidade Humboldt Cosmos. The meeting aimed to contribute to the discussion of the importance and trends of the theory and practice of knowledge-based development.<\/p>\n

\t\tJamile Sabatini Marques, director of Innovation and Promotion at ABES, presented, on the last day of the event, the lecture "The technological sector as a driver of knowledge-based economic development<\/a>"(presentation on the link). The executive focused on the importance of technological centers, which generate knowledge-based economic development, in the Brazilian technological sector and in Brazil's relationship with Latin America and the world.<\/div>\n

\n\t\t"The 11th Knowledge Cities World Summit is a great opportunity to pass on to the world the importance of Brazil in the software and services market. The country continues to make large investments in this sector. According to a survey by ABES in 2018, Brazil remained in 9th position in the world ranking with an internal market of approximately US$ 18.6 billion, showing how we are engaged in this area.The investments we make in this field are extremely important to contribute to the economic development of the country and we must show the world how much we are growing and we can develop even more in the coming years ", commented Jamile.<\/div>\n

\n\t\tThis year's congress program was focused on "Knowledge Islands" and addressed topics related to the Canary Islands, their cities, regions, districts and communities; knowledge markets; capital systems; alternative economic cultures and the anthropocene; democratic citizen participation and political action; creativity, science, innovation and technological policy; knowledge-based companies, industries and services.<\/div>\n

\n\t\tThe congress was attended by academics, professionals, civil servants and policy makers from around the world where they discuss a wide range of disciplines to share their knowledge and experiences. In addition to academic and professional presentations, the event also offered opportunities for practical exercises in workshops and small group sessions in innovative formats.<\/div>\n
