\"\"The Brazilian Association of Software Companies (ABES), represented by its Government Relations director, Marcelo de Almeida, was present this Monday (07\/01) at a\u00a0public hearing<\/a>\u00a0promoted by the Senate\u2019s Commission on Artificial Intelligence in Brazil (CTIA). The main objective of the event was to deepen the debate around Bill 2,338\/2023, which aims to establish standards for the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in the country. The hearing was called by Senator Astronauta Marcos Pontes (PL-SP) through request 2\/2024-CTIA. On that occasion, Marcelo gave the Senator a copy of the book\u00a0\u201cTechnology and Innovation: public policies and regulatory aspects of the sector\u201d,\u00a0<\/strong>launched in celebration of the first anniversary of the ABES Think Tank.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The bill in question, presented by the president of the Senate, Rodrigo Pacheco, is being processed together with nine other proposals that seek to create a regulatory framework for artificial intelligence in Brazil.<\/p>\n

During the hearing, crucial topics were discussed such as preliminary risk assessment, the definition and regulation of excessive and high-risk risks, as well as criteria for classifying risks in artificial intelligence systems.\"\"<\/p>\n

In addition to Marcelo de Almeida, the hearing was attended by other important representatives of the sector. Felipe Fran\u00e7a, executive director of the Digital Council, Mateus Costa-Ribeiro, founder of the startup Talisman IA, and Jefferson de Oliveira Gomes, director of Technology and Innovation at the National Confederation of Industry (CNI), were present. Rodrigo Scotti, president of the Board of Directors of the Brazilian Association of Artificial Intelligence (ABria), also participated in the discussions. Virtually, Ana Bialer, member of the National Data Protection Council (CNPD) and consultant for the Movimento Brasil Competitivo (MBC), and Patricia Peck, member of the National Cybersecurity Committee (CNCiber), contributed to the debate.<\/p>\n
