On Thursday (12\/12\/2024), the\u00a0Council for Sustainable Economic and Social Development<\/b>, the Conselh\u00e3o, held its fourth plenary meeting at the Itamaraty Palace, chaired by Vice President Geraldo Alckmin and led by the Minister of Institutional Relations, Alexandre Padilha. The meeting was attended by Rodolfo F\u00fccher, President of the ABES Board, who is one of the sector's representatives in the organization and is a member of the Technology, Innovation and Digital Transformation Commission (CTITD).<\/p>\n

Representatives from various sectors and the Federal Government discussed proposals and presented results from the Conselh\u00e3o committees and working groups. Commitments, sanctions, decrees and cooperation agreements were signed, focusing on economic and sustainable measures, including regulation of the carbon market.<\/p>\n

Padilha highlighted the work of the advisors and Lula's participation in regulating the carbon market and in digital transformation. Alckmin highlighted Brazil's leading role in biofuels and its ability to lead the global decarbonization agenda, with robust public policies and attracting private investment.<\/p>\n

Economic issues were highlighted, with proposals to reduce the cost of credit drawn up by experts and representatives of the Ministry of Finance. Minister Fernando Haddad discussed the importance of economic adjustment for sustainability, mentioning the lower unemployment rate, poverty and young people out of the job market.<\/p>\n

About the Council<\/i><\/b>\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

The Council for Sustainable Social Economic Development (CDESS), the Conselh\u00e3o, is the body responsible for advising the President of the Republic in the formulation of public policies and government guidelines.<\/p>\n

Created with the objective of promoting dialogue between the various sectors of civil society and the Federal Government, the Conselh\u00e3o is made up of different social actors, such as businesspeople, trade unionists, community leaders and intellectuals, and seeks to create consensus around fundamental issues for the country.<\/p>\n

Plenary meetings are biannual meetings held by the board, in which council members meet to discuss issues of national interest and deliver results. The current edition is the fourth meeting of this nature since the board was reinstated in 2023.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
